Glory of City

Diksha Bhoomi

In the heart of the city, there is a beautiful place for meditation. Diksha Bhoomi, as the place known with a hugh stupa built. This stupa, although being in the heart of the city, has became a place of meditation, both for Buddhists and neo-Buddhists , and everyone who wants to experience serenity. This is the site in Nagpur where Dr. B.R. Ambedkar converted to Buddhism with five lakhs of his followers on Dushara (Vijaya Dashami), October 14, 1956. Since then Mauryan emperor Ashoka is believed to have converted formally to the Way of the Buddha on this day, Ambedkarite Buddhists observe it as "Ashoka Vijaya Dashami". There is hugh gathering of people coming from all over India and world this day. This place has been making nagpur really glorius.
